Who said vinyl is dead? You didn’t, right? Neither did I. To celebrate the enduring charm of the 45, the band has been busy in the studio laying down two tracks for an upcoming vinyl release from Hopestreet Recordings. And why not – classic Bollywood and 45s go together like yesterday’s chicken tikka and a particularly frosty glass of locally-brewed yet foreign-owned beer. Good times! What’s the opposite of a Reunion?

Chip steals the limelight, again.
So here we are. Goodbye to drinking rum on the beach in sunny Reunion, and hello to the Melbourne winter. But even as we shuffle our way through another windy week in the big smoke, the memories of our time at the Sakifo music festival keep us warm. There was the rocky ride over the clifftops; the hotel pool where we shot our latest video (watch this space!) and of course the volcano where the Skipper went to cheat Death and returned with ear wax instead. The French have been keeping Reunion Island a secret, but the secret’s out now monsieurs. We’ll be back!

The good thing is that we’re finally making our way back to the stage in Melbourne after a hiatus of two months. Next Saturday 9th July at the Empress Hotel in North Fitzroy, a long time supporter of the innovative live music scene. It promises to be a bad-ass party with a bad-ass crowd. Or as my father would say, a “bunch of loose characters.” Either way, make your way down there for some old-school Bollywood funk – you won’t get it anywhere else.
